It lies almost directly on the Gerlos Pass on the border between Salzburg and Tyrol in the Zillertal Alps, with the winter sports area consisting of three areas: Filzsteinalm, Duxeralm and Silberleiten and belongs to the municipality of Krimml. You can reach this village by car or bus with ease, with plenty of conventional skiing and cross-country skiing potential thanks to the close proximity of the Gerlosplatte. From Hochkrimml, you can reach the Zillertal Arena directly via a red downhill run to Königsleiten. Enjoy endless hours of high alpine skiing in this pristine part of Austria.

Hochkrimml is the place to be for those looking for a certainty of snow. This resort is tailored toward the winter sports enthusiast and offers sunny, snow-covered downhill runs with a long season that runs from the start of December well into April. The village itself is quieter than the neighbouring Königsleiten and is therefore ideal for guests looking for somewhere they can relax. It’s little wonder this beautiful part of Austria is quickly becoming a popular choice for ski and winter sports enthusiasts, with an ample choice of accommodation.

As a ski resort: If you’re after a true ski-in, ski-out experience, this is the place to be. This area is particularly impressive, with the lowest point still standing at a whopping 1,400 metres in altitude. On the opposite side of the valley, you’ll find the vastness of the Gerlosplatte via Königsleiten to conquer, but there’s plenty in the immediate vicinity of Hochkrimml to keep you occupied first. Besides modern ski lifts, there’s a ski school for beginners, not to mention a ski shop with ski rental facilities. The ski bus is also at your disposal, with convenient connections to nearby ski resorts including Neukirchen, Wald, Krimml and Königsleiten.

A beautifully prepared cross-country ski run is available for those wanting more freedom on the snow here, along with a toboggan run so you can enjoy the excitement of a different variety. If you like winter hikes with majestic views, we recommend a snowshoe hike to the nearby Krimml Waterfalls. Gaze upon Europe’s highest stepped waterfall as the water crashes down from a height 300 metres.

In Krimml, approximately 9 kilometres away, you will find all the shops you need for your daily requirements. There is also a supermarket in Königsleiten. Holidaymakers will also appreciate many a relaxing hour at the Kristallbad in Wald. You’ll find both indoor and outdoor pools with slides galore here, along with a large sauna and wellness area. There’s also a bistro on hand. Come the evening, you can enjoy a hearty meal at one of the local restaurants or pizzeria. With so much on offer, you’ll never be bored for a moment.

The village of Hochkrimml: In Hochkrimml you will find a ski school and two restaurants within the immediate vicinity of the slopes. There are sports shops in all three villages: in Silberleiten, on the Filzsteinalm and on the Duxeralm. In Königsleiten you can also stock up on supplies at the supermarket. Free ski bus connection to the ski slopes.

About the ski area: From Hochkrimml there is a red downhill run towards Königsleiten, which is connected to the Zillertal Arena. Hochkrimml, together with Königsleiten, is one of the highest villages within the Zillertal Arena (1470 to 2302 metres) and is a very snow-sure area. In all, there’s a total of 52 modern ski lifts and 147km of slopes. Of these, 8% are black, 62% are red and 30% are blue. A total area of 320 hectares ensures there’s more than enough space for all winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy themselves.
